Swansea consigned Watford to their fourth straight defeat after Ashley Williams' header handed the Welsh club a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

After a lacklustre first half, Swansea left the visitors stunned in the 27th minute when Williams rose highest to meet Ki Sung-yueng's ball into the area and head the home side in front.

The goal was the Swansea captain's first of the season, and the first by a Swans defender since March 2014 when Williams also netted past Everton.

Watford had a few chances, namely when Odion Ighalo headed Troy Deeney's cross wide and when Jurado played a lovely one-two with Etienne Capoue but saw his resulting shot comfortably saved by Lukas Fabianski, but the Hornets couldn't break down the home side's tough defence.

Quique Sanchez Flores' side emerged much improved after the break, but Jurado failed to capitalise on his several attempts at goal.

There was time for Swansea to appeal for a handball on Ben Watson in the area, but the referee waved away the cries for a spot-kick with replays showing the ball had touched the midfielder's shoulder.

Watford had a penalty appeal of their own then rejected when Igahlo appeared to be held back in the area by goal-scorer Williams but again, it wasn't given and Swansea claimed all three points.
