Former Tottenham and Fulham forward Clint Dempsey has revealed he is releasing a 13-track rap album later this summer.

The US captain took no time to get into his World Cup rhythm, scoring after 30 seconds of the USA’s 2-1 victory over Ghana on Monday - the fifth-fastest goal in the tournament's history.

And ‘Deuce’, as Dempsey is better known in the music world, spent the weeks leading up to the FIFA showpiece recording his album ‘The Redux’ with fellow Texan rappers.

The 31-year-old, who raps about his journey from humble beginnings to 'Captain America', will be hoping his music can inspire him to keep 'banging Gs', or scoring goals to you and me.

“We just were having fun with it and it ended up being an album,” Dempsey told the Wall Street Journal, and fellow rapper Mike Chehade believes Dempsey is the real deal.

He said: “He’ll just call you sometimes and start free-styling – he doesn’t even say hello … I’m not saying he’s Eminem, but he’s definitely qualified.

Chehade expects Dempsey to continue showing his talent on the field with the Stars and Stripes.

"We’re not known as a soccer powerhouse – we’re almost known for being soft. But Clint has this edge."

Dempsey, who will return to the World Cup stage against Portugal on Sunday, teamed up with rappers Big Hawk and XO to produce the track ‘Don’t Tread’ for a Nike advert in 2006.
