Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has backed the north London club to progress to the last 16 of the Champions League this evening.
Arsene Wenger’s side will advance if they avoid a three-goal defeat in Naples, and finish top of Group F if they leave Stadio San Paolo with at least a point.
Henry told Sky Sports he believes Wenger’s charges will secure Arsenal's place in the knockout phase for the 14 successive season.
“Yes, you have to be confident,” said the 36-year-old, who scored 175 Premier League goals across two spells in north London.
“But having saying that, I don’t ever remember a team having 12 points on the last day of the Champions League and not being sure for going through.”
Speaking ahead of kick-off, Henry encouraged the Arsenal players to avoid complacency and keep pressing until the last blow of the whistle.
“Gary Neville won the Champions League in no way I’ve seen done before. I remember I looked down at the terrace, you know clapping, standing ovation, you know I’m not having a go but I’m just saying I’m sure they thought they’d won it.”
“But in two minutes, you know, Man United won it. As long as the referee hasn’t blown the whistle, for me, you’ve got to be aware and be careful at what you’re doing.”
Arsenal are sitting pretty with a five-point lead at the top of the domestic league, but the Gunners’ pursuit of a first Premier League title since 2004 will not tempt Wenger to sacrifice a shot at European glory, according to Henry.
He added: “He still, himself, hasn’t won it.
“So that’s why I think he’s taking the competition seriously.”
