Thomas Frank admitted he lost his head following Brentford’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves as the Bees boss was shown a red card on the pitch following the match.

In a match that was halted for 20 minutes in the first-half by a drone flying over the stadium, Ruben Neves’ winner condemned Brentford to a fourth straight defeat.

At the full-time whistle, Frank marched onto the pitch and squared up to Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho.

The Brentford manager was initially just shown a yellow card by the referee Peter Bankes, but he reacted angrily to that and was then sent off. Frank revealed how he talked his way into the red card.

“I was frustrated we didn’t get a point but I was relatively calm and there was a situation which triggered it,” Frank said.

“I got a yellow card after a confrontation with a Wolves player, then I turned round to Peter and said ‘you can give me a second one as well’. He said it was because I was turning around and too aggressive.

“I want the players to control their emotions and not get silly cards so it’s disappointing I could not control my emotions.”

There was more concern for Frank, after Brentford teammates Mathias Jensen and Rico Henry were both forced off in the first-half after a sickening clash of heads.

The Bees used concussion substitutes to replace the pair, and Frank gave some positive news on the situation after the match.

“It was horrible,” Frank said. “When they were running I was thinking, ‘oh my God, this is going to be bad’.

“But they are good. Mathias is clear of concussion and Rico will be assessed.”
