Malawi accuse hosts in row

Furious Malawi claim they were victims of a "conspiracy" by Angola after losing 2-0 to the hosts.

Malawi say they were denied a training ground for two days leading up to yesterday's match in Luanda and have filed a complaint to the Confederation of African Football.

"From events that have unfolded, it is clear there was a conspiracy to disrupt the training of Malawi in order to give undue advantage to Angola," said Charles Nyirenda, general secretary of the Malawi FA. "Our team do not deserve the psychological warfare and torture they have been subjected to."

Goals by Manucho and Flavio in a six-minute spell sealed victory for Angola, whose coach Manuel Jose said: "We put in a fantastic effort."

Drogba's crunch clash with Essien

Cheslsea team-mates Didier Drogba and Michael Essien will face each other in a crunch clash when Ivory Coast play Ghana in Group B tonight.

Drogba's Ivory Coast, held to a 0-0 draw by Burkina Faso in their opening match earlier this week, will be on the verge of elimination if they lose against Essien and Co.

With only three teams in the group after Togo left the tournament following the gun attack on their team bus last week, Ivory Coast are desperate for a victory. Their coach Vahid Halilhodzic said: "We are in a difficult situation but we have to stop whining and win this game."
