Tottenham and Arsenal battle it out for 'new Cristiano Ronaldo'

Tottenham, who led the race to sign 18-year-old wonderkid Alvaro Vadillo, could lose out to north London rivals Arsenal.

Spurs have tracked the Real Betis star all summer but could miss out on their target, it emerged today.

Vadillo, who has earned comparisons in Spain to Cristiano Ronaldo, had attracted the attentions of Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.

But according to The Sun, Arsenal are now hoping to persuade the star to move to the Emirates.

Vadillo has already appeared 18 times for Real Betis since making his debut in 2011 at the age of 16.
