Tottenham face competition from an English rival as they look to wrap up the signing of Clinton N’Jie.

The Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had earlier this week welcomed a bid from Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but has now warned Spurs they are not alone in the hunt for the highly-rated forward.

Aulas told RTL: “The deal for Clinton N'Jie isn't completed. A proposition from another fashionable English club has complicated things.”

The 21-year-old is still expected to depart Stade Gerland this summer but Tottenham will be keen to bring him to White Hart Lane in order to reinforce their depleted strikeforce.

Tottenham allowed Roberto Soldado to depart for Villarreal on Friday and are also keen to move on Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who has attracted interest from West Ham and Aston Villa. This would leave Harry Kane as the only senior striker at the club.

N’Jie is one of several targets on Tottenham’s shortlist, with the club maintaining a strong interest in Charlie Austin, Saido Berahino and Javier Hernandez.
