Tottenham full-back Kieran Trippier marked Alexis Sanchez "out of the game" in the final north London derby at White Hart Lane and has the total faith of his team-mates, according to Ben Davies.

The Englishman, who joined Spurs from Burnley last summer, has often been second choice in the pecking order in north London.

But Trippier has featured in six of Spurs' last seven top-flight fixtures and also started the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea with Kyle Walker's long-term future uncertain.

Walker is believed to have asked to leave Spurs amid interest from Manchester City but has not submitted a formal transfer request.

Davies has been impressed with Trippier's recent performances and believes Mauricio Pochettino has an enviable couple of options at his disposal on the right-hand side of defence.

“I think he’s been excellent,” Davies told Tottenham's official website when asked about Trippier's display against the Gunners.

“There’s a lot of full-backs in this league who’ve had a tough time against Alexis Sanchez and I thought Trips marked him out of the game.

“As players, we’ve got every faith in him,” Davies added.

“We think he’s a top, top player and if he comes into the side or whoever the manager picks to start, it doesn’t make a difference to the way we expect to play.”

The north Londoners have already guaranteed a superior finish to Arsenal but Victor Wanyama is convinced Spurs want more than bragging rights over their rivals.
