Tottenham player ratings vs Everton: Rodrigo Bentancur excellent as Yves Bissouma proves turning point

Tottenham closed the gap to Arsenal to a point with a 2-0 win over Everton, sealed by second half goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Kane quickly banished the memory of his late penalty miss against Frankfurt here on Wednesday, winning and converting a spot-kick on the hour after he was caught by Jordan Pickford.

Hojbjerg wrapped up the win with a deflected effort four minutes from time as Spurs maintained their 100 percent home record this season.

Dan Kilpatrick was at White Hart Lane to rate the Spurs players...

Hugo Lloris 7

Untroubled by an Everton side who blazed the two best chances of the first half over the bar.

Cristian Romero 8

Flew into tackles, including an important challenge on Amadou Onana. Progressed the ball well from the back.

Eric Dier 7

Assured display in the heart of the back three. Up against Dominic Calvert-Lewin the final 25 minutes but never really troubled.

Ben Davies 7

Created a chance for Kane with a fine angled pass and used the ball well.

Matt Doherty 7

His low shot was spilled by Pickford for the penalty decision. Got better as the game went on but clearly still working his way back to his sharpest.

Rodrigo Bentancur 9

Saw lots of the ball and used it well, often driving Spurs forward from the base of midfield. Never stopped running and created Hojbjerg’s clincher. Did get caught by Gray who beat him in the final third to create a chance but an excellent display regardless.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 8

Deserved his goal for some excellent performances of late. It capped a typically unfussy and selfless display, often spent dropping into the back three.

Ivan Perisic 6

Flung in some dangerous crosses but still yet to really make his mark on the Premier League.

Richarlison 6

Feels a clunky fit on the right of the front three but worked hard before being forced off early in the second half. Had two chances but sent both over the bar.

Heung-min Son 8

Continued to look sharp after two fine goals midweek and was a constant threat in the final third.

Harry Kane 8

Won and scored another penalty in a lively performance (banishing the memory of his miss against Frankfurt in the process). Also forced two sharp saves from Pickford either side of the goal.
