Tottenham are unlikely to face any action from the Football Association after their supporters aimed coins at Arsenal forward Theo Walcott during Saturday’s FA Cup tie.

Spurs were today waiting to discover whether they will be punished over the second-half incident, which took place as Walcott was being taken off on a stretcher during the north London derby.

Walcott was pelted after gesturing “2-0” to the away section at Emirates Stadium. He is not expected to be sanctioned. The FA will examine video footage of the incident, which also saw ambulance staff hit with coins, and will work with Spurs and Arsenal to identify individuals involved.

It has been suggested that Spurs should be charged for failing to control their fans but it is difficult for a club to take steps against supporters carrying coins.

The FA are more likely to want individuals punished, with anyone found guilty set to face a ban.

Meanwhile, Arsenal were today waiting for scan results on Walcott’s knee injury amid fears he might be sidelined for four weeks with strained ligaments.
