Tottenham will prove talk of a Wembley jinx is "nonsense" by winning the FA Cup this season, according to former Spurs captain Gary Mabbutt.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are unbeaten at White Hart Lane this term but do not have such a convincing record at the national stadium.

Spurs managed to win just one of the four European fixtures they contested at England's traditional base, culminating in early exits from both the Champions League and Europa League.

Such an underwhelming return has led to suggestions that Spurs are suffering from a hoodoo when they take to the field under the arch but Mabbutt is adamant the north Londoners will demonstrate otherwise.

"I've been frustrated this season with people talking about a Wembley jinx," Mabbutt told the Daily Mail.

"There were two poor performances at the start of the Champions League and that was it - it was nothing to do with a Wembley jinx.

"People building up the hoodoo of playing at Wembley, it's absolute nonsense.

"I think that will be proven this season because I'm quietly confident Tottenham will go on to win the FA Cup this year," he added.

Spurs face Millwall in the quarter-finals and can book another trip to Wembley in the last four if they beat Neil Harris' League One outfit.

Meanwhile, Millwall’s away allocation has been set at 3,681 after discussions between both clubs, as well as talks with a local Safety Advisory Group.
