Real Madrid have dismissed Mauricio Pochettino’s claim that Tottenham's request to stay at their Valdebebas training complex for the Champions League Final was rejected as 'completely false'.

Pochettino said in an interview that his squad will train at the Madrid centre before the final, but will not be allowed to stay there. In an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, the Tottenham boss said. “We asked but Florentino wouldn't let us. He'd say, 'the day you coach Madrid is the day you can sleep there'.”

However, in a highly critical statement publish on Friday, Real Madrid said they were ‘surprised’ by Pochettino’s comments that they received no request, stating that Spurs had only asked to use the training facilities and changing rooms, which were approved.

"Real Madrid is surprised by the suggestions made by the coach of Tottenham Hotspur, Mauricio Pochettino, about a supposed request made to our club that his team could stay at the Ciudad Real Madrid before the final of the Champions League," the statement read.

"Real Madrid wants to make it clear it is completely false this request occurred.

"All requests have referred only to the use of the training pitches and changing rooms. And all of them have been granted by our club."

Tottenham will travel to Madrid on Wednesday and train at Valdebebas on Thursday and Friday before facing Liverpool on June 1, who will also train there on the morning of the game.

Real Madrid's statement in full

Real Madrid C. F. is surprised with the statements made by the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Mauricio Pochettino, on an alleged request made to our club for his team to stay in the residence of Real Madrid City on the occasion of the Champions League Final.

Real Madrid C. F. wants to make clear that it is categorically false that this request was produced. Our club has always shown its absolute availability to attend to all the requests made by Uefa, the Spanish Football Federation, Club Atlético Madrid, Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur.

All requests to Real Madrid have made reference only and exclusively to the use of the training camps of Real Madrid City and its changing rooms. And all of them have been granted by our club.

Thus, Liverpool plans to train at our facilities on Saturday, June 1st in the morning. Tottenham, on the other hand, will do so on Thursday, May 30th and Friday, May 31st.

Real Madrid C. F. also wants to emphasise that the housing of the finalist teams in the Champions League are assigned by Uefa following criteria of organisation and security. And that at no time has it been requested to our club that these teams could stay in the facilities of Real Madrid City.
