Tottenham star Dele Alli has been withdrawn from the England squad with a hamstring injury.

Alli was left out of the Spurs squad to face Crystal Palace at Wembley this afternoon and the Football Association soon confirmed that he had been withdrawn from Gareth Southgate’s party for friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

The 21-year-old will now be battling to prove his fitness to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino ahead of Tottenham’s first game after the international break, the north London derby away to Arsenal.

Speaking ahead of this afternoon’s match against Palace Pochettino confirmed Alli’s injury had been “minor” but did not offer a timescale for when the midfielder would be back in the squad.

Alli's absence will be a frustrating blow for England boss Southgate, who had to do without the attacking midfielder for the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia due to a Fifa-imposed suspension.

The FA have not confirmed a replacement for Alli.
