Tottenham do not talk about winning the Premier League title as a target this season, according to Victor Wanyama.
Spurs have started the campaign in fine form and are the only side with an unbeaten record after seven games.
Mauricio Pochettino's side dispatched Manchester City last time out, which appears to have convinced fans and pundits alike that Spurs are capable of fighting for the title this term.
The north Londoners finished third last season, despite being Leicester's main challengers during the second half of the campaign, and Wanyama is adamant improving on that achievement is Tottenham's primary focus.
"It's easy to just say we can win the league, but if we work hard then anything is possible," he told Four Four Two.
"We don't talk about the title as a target. Our target is to improve on last season's position.
"We have young players who want to work hard and who are very ambitious, which is a very good thing."
Competition for places at Tottenham is fierce but Wanyama has played more Premier League minutes than any other midfielder at the club this season.
The powerful Kenya international has made a central role his own and believes his style of play combines well with the high-energy approach the majority of Tottenham's players employ.
"Every player has his own style, and it's when they all combine that they really help the team.
"I think I'm well suited to the English game, because getting stuck in is not a problem for me. I'm OK with the physical side of the game.
"I like to win the ball, I like to tackle. But if I get the chance then I like to bomb forward and try to get goals, too," he added.
