Victor Wanyama has urged Tottenham to "build" on their victory against Crystal Palace when they face Liverpool next weekend.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were held to a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on the opening day of the season and looked set to be similarly frustrated by Palace on Saturday afternoon.

But Wanyama popped up with a late winner to ensure Spurs did not lose any further ground on title rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The north Londoners currently occupy seventh place with a total of four points and Wanyama is adamant Spurs must use their first victory as a springboard for more success.

"It feels special," Wanyama told the club's official website when asked about his home debut.

"When you win the first home game I think you get confidence and you can build from there.

"It's important that we build from this one and we will see in the next game," insisted the Kenya international.

Tottenham failed to win any of their first four Premier League games last term and were already playing catch up by the time they secured their first victory in mid-September.

Pochettino has praised his side for avoiding a similar scenario this season and will be keen to record a second successive victory when Jurgen Klopp's side visit White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, Michel Vorm will continue to deputise for Hugo Lloris against the Merseysiders and believes he has proved he is ready for an extended run of games.

"Obviously I played a lot of games in pre-season so I felt ready and I felt fit.

"I think we showed as a team that we are ready for what’s coming in the next few months.”
