AZ Alkmaar are demanding a higher fee from Tottenham before selling forward Vincent Janssen, according to their technical director Max Huiberts.

“The difference between supply and demand is too great,” he told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

The report says Spurs offered €14m (£11.13m) for Janssen last night, with payments spread over three years, while AZ are asking for €20m (£16.16m) for the 22-year-old Holland international.

It adds that Tottenham’s latest bid is the third the north London club have made. The first was £8m plus £2m in add-ons, with the second a straight £10.1m.

AZ rejected both offers but Janssen is keen to move to Spurs, who are thought to have prepared a five-year deal worth about £30,000 a week.
