Claudio Ranieri jokes he will take Watford squad for dinner if they keep clean sheet... in the club canteen!

Claudio Ranieri has joked he will take his Watford squad for dinner in the club canteen when they keep a clean sheet.

The Italian, who was hired earlier this month, is famed for taking his Leicester squad for pizza when they kept a clean sheet.

After taking over at Watford, Ranieri said before his first match with Liverpool he would buy the squad dinner if they kept the Reds at bay.

The Hornets ultimately failed to, with Liverpool winning 5-0 last Saturday, but Ranieri has joked the offer still stands ahead of a trip to Everton this weekend.

“Believe me, I forgot this,” said Ranieri, when reminded he said he would buy his players dinner for a clean sheet against Liverpool.

“But Danny Rose today he told me: ‘Hey, manager, if we keep a clean sheet, it’s dinner?’

“Yes, of course! If we make a clean sheet I offer dinner - in the Watford canteen!”
