Valon Behrami believes he has already struck up a good understanding with fellow Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue.

The pair are among 10 players brought into Watford following their promotion to the Premier League, Behrami joining from Hamburg for £3million and Capoue from Tottenham for a club record £6m.

Behrami is delighted how quickly they have clicked and said: “It’s going well. Etienne is a great player and he had a great game against Everton last week. He’s got more potential that he can show during the season. I feel great with him, he is very important to us and I’m sure he can improve even more.”

Tomorrow, Vicarage Road will stage Premier League football for the first time since 2007 with West Brom the visitors.

Watford began their campaign with a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park while West Brom were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City.

But former West Ham midfielder Behrami said: “It’s going to be a tough game because they play physically and direct so it will be a lot of challenges for the second ball. We need to stay focused.”
