Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has criticised his side’s defensive weaknesses following their shambolic 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands.

Leading the game 1-0 following Xabi Alonso’s penalty, the reigning world champions were dissected to devastating effect by a rampant Dutch side in Salvador.

"This is a very delicate moment for us,” Del Bosque told SporTV. “We must all try to resolve this, beat Chile, and move on from there.

"There is no need for a revolution. We did not win but we will move on and try to win the next game.”

"In the second half they had more chances, found lots of space, we were too weak in defence.

"There were errors but we all fought for the result. We got down mentally, it was not about the physical state."
