West Ham are poised to sign two players before the end of the month, according to co-chairman David Sullivan.

Senegalese midfielder Mohamed Diame, available on a free transfer from Wigan, heads West Ham’s wanted list and could complete a move this week.

Manager Sam Allardyce wants a striker, with Blackburn’s Yakubu, Norwich City frontman Grant Holt and Real Madrid’s Spain Under-21 international Joselu all linked with the club.

“We expect to sign a player this week and next,” said Sullivan. “I can’t say any more at the moment though.”

Another player linked today with West Ham is Sweden international defender Jonas Olsson who has one year left on his contract at West Brom and has been told by new manager Steve Clarke that he can leave.
