West Ham fear Enner Valencia will miss out on Saturday’s league trip to Arsenal after he injured his toe in a freak accident at home.

Valencia cut his big toe on a broken cup at his home and manager Sam Allardyce today confirmed the forward is a doubt for the game at the Emirates Stadium.

Any withdrawal would be a blow for West Ham, who are already having to cope without Andy Carroll and Carlton Cole because of injury.

“Enner has had an accident at home and has cut his big toe quite severely on a broken cup,” said Allardyce. “It has been stitched. We are not sure if he will be considered for this game. It was a freak accident.

“Our lack of goalscoring power is a worry. Not having alternatives to use is concerning going into the last ten league games.”

West Ham will also be without Carl Jenkinson against Arsenal because the right-back is ineligible to face his parent club.

“We have gone to Arsenal a couple of times and got in front, but unfortunately the leads have not lasted very long,” said Allardyce.

“They have a few weaknesses, but if we can expose them and take our chances then it is down to how well we perform on the day.”
