Mauro Zarate is open to leaving West Ham just months after arriving at Upton Park, his agent has revealed.

The Argentine striker, who previously spent time at Birmingham City and Lazio, joined the Hammers as part of Sam Allardyce’s summer recruitment drive to bring attacking football back to Upton Park.

But the 27 year old has more often than not been utilised out wide or behind a main striker, with fellow summer additions Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho, with the Senegalese forward having scored six Premier League goals so far.

Zarate is believed to be attracting interest from Serie A side Torino and his agent, Luis Ruzzi, admits the player would be open to a move when the January transfer window opens.

"At West Ham he plays behind the strikers and that is not his position," he told Tuttomercatoweb.

"He is a centre-forward and if there is a team willing to let him play in his natural role, then we'd be very happy to take their offer [Torino] into consideration."

"Mauro is 27, so he's ready for the big step up. After all, we know his quality. It's a shame that, apart from his time at Velez, in recent years they make him play out of position."

Zarate has made five appearances for West Ham this season, scoring once.
