West Ham are considering a move for former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

The French full-back is currently without a club having been released by Marseille in November after aiming a kick at one of the club's supporters before a Europa League game.

The 36-year-old was handed a season-long ban by Uefa and, now a free agent, has been on the lookout for a club since. Evra will be allowed to compete in English football as his ban only covers European competitions.

Standard Sport understands West Ham are weighing up a deal for the experienced Evra amid a string of fitness and discipline issues.

Moyes, who saw his side suffer their first league defeat since December on Saturday, is battling in one of the closest Premier League relegation battles in years while managing a threadbare squad.

As well as a number of key figures sidelined through injury, left-back Arthur Masuaku is currently serving a six-match ban for spitting at Wigan’s Nick Powell to further deplete Moyes' options.

Evra, who won five Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time at Old Trafford, made over 40 appearances for Moyes before leaving the club to join Juventus ahead of the following season.
