West Ham's individual mistakes allowed Liverpool front three to run riot at Anfield, says David Moyes

David Moyes says individual mistakes cost West Ham for the first time under his guise as Liverpool put four past them at Anfield.

The Scotsman’s sorry record in the red half of Merseyside continued on Saturday afternoon, with the Hammers 3-0 down within the hour.

A second goal of the season for Michail Antonio gave those in the away end something to cheer, before a Sadio Mane goal completed the set for Jurgen Klopp’s front three, with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino having notched beforehand.

While Moyes conceded the trio are, despite their best efforts, a nightmare to contain, it was individual errors which meant his Anfield record remains without a victory in 15 visits.

“It is really difficult to deal with them,” Moyes said.

“We worked most of the week to try and find a way to deal with them and try to contain them the best we could and I think there was parts of the game where we did.

“But, ultimately, there were moments...today was the first day we made individual mistakes that led to goals and because of that, even the corner kick too, the second half I thought we gave the ball away and allowed Liverpool to break that.

“Partly before that, we were well organised, had a good shape and made it hard for Liverpool to get through and tried to do some damage ourselves.”
