Summer transfer window opens with Jadon Sancho to Man United and Kai Havertz to Chelsea on the cards

Big deals: Sancho and Havertz could be the big movers this summer

The window will be open for 10 weeks, starting 27 July and ending 5 October.

Following consultation with the EFL, a domestic-only window will be added from 5 October, closing 5pm on 16 October. During this window, Premier League clubs will only be able to trade with EFL clubs (either loans or permanent registrations). No transfers can take place between Premier League clubs in this period.

Chelsea have already completed the signing of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech from RB Leipzig and Ajax respectively, while Crystal Palace have agreed a three-year contract to bring Nathan Ferguson from West Brom – despite the Baggies promotion to the Premier League.

Tottenham are expected to announce the departures of Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm after their respective bolt-on contracts came to an end, while Frank Lampard has confirmed that former Barcelona winger Pedro will leave the club following the club’s participation in the Champions League finals next month.

Willian’s future remains unclear with the Brazilian holding out for a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea so far only willing to over a two-year deal.

David Silva’s ten-year career with Manchester City has come to an end , while Everton stalwart Leighton Baines has announced his retirement from professional football.

Chelsea will push ahead with moves for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz and remain interested in Leicester City’s Ben Chillwel, while Manchester United are also expected to be busy this summer.

Jadon Sancho remains Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s number one target , and a deal should be completed if Man United can negotiate a compromise on the £100m-plus valuation Dortmund has for the England international.

Elsewhere, Wilfried Zaha’s future at Crystal Palace is also set to dominate the backpages over the coming weeks with Roy Hodgson admitting that the 27-year-old remaining ‘set’ on leaving the club .
