Will Miller or Oliver Twist? Tottenham midfielder starred in BBC series as a child actor

Professional footballers are often accused of play acting but Tottenham midfielder Will Miller deserves the title more than any of his peers.

And that's because the 20-year-old was a child actor and played the role of Oliver Twist in an adaption of Charles Dickens' novel for a hit BBC series.

Miller, whose mother Janine Wood is an actress, lit up the screen as a youngster back in 2007 before progressing through the north London club's youth system.

The versatile midfielder made his first start for Mauricio Pochettino's side during Tuesday's defeat to Juventus but, unsurprisingly, showed no sign of first night nerves.

The Argentine coach is pleased with Miller's progress and has admitted he only recently discovered about the youngster's intriguing back story.

“I am very happy with Will. He played well against Juventus and is a very interesting story," said Pochettino.

“I only discovered a few days ago that as a boy he starred in this big series. It was a treat for me to see him on YouTube.”

Miller is now on the verge of Tottenham's first team, having captained the Under-21 side last term, and we're sure he'll be asking for more during the forthcoming season.

Having featured alongside household names such as Tom Hardy in his role as Oliver Twist he could soon be rubbing shoulders with starts such as Harry Kane on a regular basis at White Hart Lane.

Just don't expect him to be overawed by the drama of Premier League football.
