Yohan Cabaye says Crystal Palace players have to start taking responsibility for the dreadful run that has seen them slide towards trouble.

Palace slumped to a fifth consecutive defeat when they lost 2-1 at home against Manchester City on Saturday and pressure is building on manager Alan Pardew.

The Eagles sit just one point above the relegation zone but Cabaye has defended Pardew and says the players should shoulder the criticism for the poor run.

Palace face Swansea away on Saturday in what feels like a crucial game and Cabaye said: “We are under pressure. It is always easy to blame the manager but us players are on the pitch and are the first to blame. We have to keep working in the same way and I am sure we are going to get some points.

“We have to trust the manager. We are all in the same boat and have to take responsibilities as a player. We have to fight against Swansea because it is important to get some points.”

Palace produced a spirited display against City but they were again undone by basic defensive errors.
