Formula 1 have confirmed there will be no races in Azerbaijan, Singapore or Japan as part of the revised schedule for the disrupted 2020 season.

The F1 calendar has been completely reworked due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the first of eight opening races in Europe now scheduled for Austria on July 5.

There remains confidence up to 18 Grands Prix will take place in 2020, though seven circuits have now been scrapped altogether. Races in Monaco, France, The Netherlands and Australia had already been axed, with double-headers in Austria and Britain planned to help make up for the reduced campaign.

But now street races in Azerbaijan and Singapore have been wiped from the schedule, with travel restrictions in place in Japan ruling out a 2020 Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Formula 1 confirmed: "As a result of the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19, we and our promoters in Azerbaijan, Singapore and Japan have taken the decision to cancel their races for the 2020 season.

"These decisions have been taken due to the different challenges our promoters face in those countries. In Singapore and Azerbaijan the long lead times required to construct street circuits made hosting the events during a period of uncertainty impossible and in Japan, ongoing travel restrictions also led to the decision not to proceed with the race."
