Gallen: Win was so special

Kevin Gallen described the 3-0 win over Plymouth as his best footballing experience since Queens Park Rangers were in the Premiership.

Two goals by Gallen and a second-half effort from Tony Thorpe toppled the Second Division leaders at Loftus Road on Saturday as Rangers moved to the top.

Ian Holloway's side were roared on by a season's best crowd of 17,049 and Gallen is savouring success at the club he has supported all his life.

Gallen said: "We've had some hard times at QPR and that makes the success even more special. I scored the winner against Chelsea here in the Premiership and played when we beat Arsenal at Arsenal, but this feeling is starting to rival those memories. To come back up the leagues after two relegations and administration would be brilliant."

Rangers are two points clear of second-placed Barnsley, who lost 4-0 at Loftus Road in September and Gallen is confident they can break away from the chasing pack.

He said: "We've won three games on the trot and need to make it five, six and seven. It's a really tight league but if we keep winning we might be able to break away. If we play like that we'll beat most teams in this division.

"We're top of the league and we've got to stay there now."

Holloway, though, is taking nothing for granted. The Rangers manager added: "We looked exciting and I'm delighted with the performance, but there's a long way to go. We have to keep doing it every week as there's no point if we don't get three points next week.

"We've done very well in the last two games but we have to do that for the rest of the season. You can't afford to slip up once as everyone else keeps winning."
