Geraint Williams is relishing his Leeds test

Ian Winrow13 April 2012

Geraint Williams believes tonight's visit of Leeds United will provide the acid test of Leyton Orient's revival.

Since taking charge in early February, Williams has guided the O's away from the relegation zone on the back of a run of seven victories in 11 games.

The weekend win at Cheltenham means a six-point cushion now separates Orient from the bottom four. But Williams knows that a victory over fifth-placed Leeds will deliver a powerful statement about his side's recent progress.

The manger said: "Leeds coming to town is a glamour game in this division. And with a big club in town it's a chance to show our fans that we mean business.

"We've won three of the last five at home and our target has now got to be to make it four in six."

Williams faces an anxious wait over the fitness of skipper Stephen Purches and leading scorer Adam Boyd but the manager believes his squad has shown it has depth to overcome the loss of key players.

He added: "I said before the Cheltenham game we faced a tough run of four games in 10 days. It's going to be tough and we are going to pick up knocks. But people have to be able to step up to the plate."
