Giggs geared up for European run

12 April 2012

Ryan Giggs believes home advantage will see Manchester United clinch a place in the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday at the expense of Lyon.

The teams are locked at 1-1 going into the second leg after Carlos Tevez cancelled out the opener from French striker Karim Benzema.

"The goal has put us in a good position because we are strong at home and we know we have a good chance," said Giggs.

"It was a hard game against Lyon but we showed a lot of character and eventually got the goal.

"This team never gives up and we definitely have more options than last season."

Giggs, 34, made his 100th Champions League appearance in France and is intent on adding to that impressive tally.

He is hoping to shake off the effects of a nagging calf strain and play a part against Lyon.

Giggs said: "I am happy to have reached this milestone. It means a lot to me.

"Now it is done I can concentrate on playing a few more."
