Haye hopes to emulate Audley's success

13 April 2012

David Haye gets a chance to confirm his status as amateur boxing's new hope for the future when he leads an English team against the United States at the London Hilton Hotel tonight.

Haye, of Fitzroy Lodge, is seeking to emulate the success of Britain's Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison as he moves up from light-heavyweight to heavyweight.

Olympic coach Ian Irwin, who helped guide Harrison to Sydney glory, said: "I have always believed that David's future is as a heavyweight."

England are looking for their first win over American opposition since 1997.
