Henman hopes to find a winning formula on clay

14 April 2012

Tim Henman's clay court season starts against American journeyman Vince Spadea at the Monte Carlo Master event later today.

Henman admits that clay does not suit his game although he has improved in recent years. He will play on clay in Rome and Hamburg before heading to Paris for the French Open on 24 May.

Sixth seed Henman said: "Making the transition to clay from any surface is tough. But I've had reasonable success in Monte Carlo before so it's always a venue I like returning to and I'm looking forward to it."
