Hoddle's French test

14 April 2012

Glenn Hoddle was today being interviewed for the role of France coach in Paris today but is unlikely to get the job.

The former Spurs and England boss met with French Football Federation president Claude Simonet to outline his ideas for the role but it is believed French chiefs were giving him the courtesy of an interview because of his former role with England.

Former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc and ex-Fulham boss Jean Tigana are the favourites in the race to succeed Jacques Santini.

Hoddle said: "Coaching France is a challenge I would like to take. I have my experience as a club coach but also as a national team coach. The media pressure can't be stronger than in England."

Hoddle played for Monaco from 1987 to 1990 and said: "I have great memories from that time. That is why coaching 'Les Bleus' would be a great honour for me."
