Hutchins has a ball despite defeat in his singles debut

Ross Hutchins' first singles outing on the ATP tour ended in defeat but the Davis Cup doubles player still enjoyed it.

The 23-year-old from Wimbledon lost 7-6, 6-4 to Belgium's Kristof Vliegen, the world No122, at the SA Open in Johannesburg.

Hutchins, a doubles specialist whose highest singles ranking is 559, said: "It was good fun. I've been practising singles recently with Andy Murray a lot, but it's very different playing matches and I haven't played a singles match in probably two years."
