I will knock out Klitschko, warns lighter man Haye
David Haye weighed in two stones lighter than Wladimir Klitschko this lunchtime and then promised his fans a knock-out finish in Germany tomorrow night.
Haye tipped the scales at 15st 3lbs while his Ukrainian opponent was a whopping 17st 5lbs.
Despite the size difference, the 30-year-old Briton still believes that he can beat Klitschko and add his IBF, IBO and WBO belts to the WBA one that the Londoner already has.
Despite being from Ukraine, Klitschko now lives in Germany and the fight in Hamburg is a 'home' one for him. Because of this there is some concern that the referee will favour the 35 year old during the bout.
"I'm not going to leave it to the judges, not here in Germany, I will be finishing it early," Haye said after the weigh-in at a packed shopping centre.
"I wanted to be as healthy as possible for this fight. I have eaten perfectly, not one piece of rubbish has gone in my mouth. I have eaten organic food, nothing bad."
The build up to the fight has been dominated by Haye's apparent attempts to wind-up his opponent and the Briton refused to shake hands again today but he insisted: "I have not been trying to get under his skin. He thinks I am an annoying little Englishman and he wants to squash me.
"But I hope to put on a performance like another former great champion Lennox Lewis. Winning the first round is imperative, I have to land my bombs. I'll take away his biggest assets, his jabs. I've beaten bigger guys than him before."
