Injury woe for victorious Wigan

Wigan came through a scrap with Hull to move three points clear at the top of the Engage Super League, but the 30-16 win may have come at some cost for Michael Maguire's side.

With a crunch Challenge Cup semi-final against St Helens just eight days away, the Warriors lost Sean O'Loughlin and Gareth Hock to injury, while star man Sam Tomkins spent time on the sidelines with a shoulder problem in between the two tries he scored.

George Carmont also limped his way through the second half as Wigan had to hold on at times, with Hull briefly coming back at them after four unanswered tries in the first half looked to have put Wigan safe at half-time.

As well as Tomkins Carmont also crossed over with with Pat Richards collecting 18 points via two tries and five goals.

Jordan Turner, Kirk Yeaman and Willie Manu scored the tries for Hull with Danny Tickle kicking two goals.

Leeds survived a strong Salford challenge to condemn Matt Parish to a 30-22 defeat in his first home match as Reds coach.

Parish's side hit back from 18-0 down to get within six points in a tight Engage Super League contest at The Willows, but the Rhinos were the more clinical.

Brian McDermott's side, fresh from reaching the Challenge Cup semi-finals, ran in five tries to Salford's four.

Ryan Hall, Ryan Bailey, Danny McGuire, Brent Webb and Lee Smith got on the Rhinos scoresheet while Kevin Sinfield, who became his club's record goalscorer last week, kicked five goals.

Salford's tries came from Luke Patten, Jodie Broughton, Vinnie Anderson and Lee Jewitt with three goals from Dan Holdsworth.
