Jackett fits for Watford as they plan job talks

Watford plan to interview former player Kenny Jackett about becoming their new boss.

Millwall manager Jackett is on a shortlist to succeed Aidy Boothroyd. Chelsea reserve-team coach Brendan Rodgers, Barnsley boss Simon Davey and current caretaker-boss Malky Mackay are also in the frame.

Mackay has been told he will be in charge for the games against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and at Bristol City three days later, with Watford hoping to make a permanent appointment before the clash with Doncaster on 29 November.

But the club's financial results for the year ending 30 June 2008 could hamper their chances of bringing in the man they want.

Pre-tax profits were down almost £8million from the previous 12 months and former directors Jimmy and Vince Russo, who still own a 29.13 per cent stake in the club, plan to call for a vote of no confidence in the board at an EGM on 1 December.
