England new boy Matt Jarvis intends to win over Fabio Capello on the training pitch after receiving his first call from the Italian.

The Wolves winger was delighted with his inclusion in the squad for Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales and next week's friendly against Ghana. But he hopes to be more than a passenger in the 26-man party, and was determined to make an impression as he prepared to join up with his new international team-mates.

"It's great for me and I'm delighted but having been named in the squad it will be a case of meeting up and aiming to impress," Jarvis said. "I've just got to concentrate on doing as well as I can in training and seeing if I can impress to get some time on the pitch if I can."

Even if Jarvis, who has scored five goals this season, does not make his international debut, he will take the experience of training with some of the biggest names in world football back to Molineux.

"Whatever happens with the matches I'm sure it will be a great experience to be training with the squad and with a coach like Fabio Capello," he told Wolves' official website, www.wolves.co.uk.

"Training will be that little bit different I am sure and it will be a big benefit to me to be there alongside such top players."

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has predicted Jarvis will be "a breath of fresh air" in the England squad, and the 24-year-old former Gillingham player has also complimented the Molineux staff.

"It's been great for me to have worked with the gaffer and TC [assistant manager Terry Connor] who have helped me improve my game since I arrived at the club," Jarvis said.

"I owe a lot to them as well as my team-mates who have also been very important. I've been told I'm the first Wolves player to be in an England squad since Steve Bull and I'm just delighted it's happened."

Jarvis maintained his impressive form for Wolves with the winner at Aston Villa on Saturday and McCarthy told Sky Sports News: "He is tops, he is a great lad, straightforward, very honest and puts in a real day's work."
