Jewell delighted as Derby land former Forest forward Commons

13 April 2012

Derby have completed the signing of winger Kris Commons on a three-year contract following his release by Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old was keen to leave the City Ground and has now become Paul Jewell's sixth signing of an already busy summer for the relegated Rams.

Derby boss Paul Jewell is delighted with his new signing, Kris Commons

Jewell told the club's official website, www.dcfc.co.uk: "This is a gem of a signing for us and a terrific boost that Kris has chosen to join Derby County over the numerous other clubs who were also keen to secure his signature.

"He is a player who can unlock doors; he has that 'X-factor', a genuine match winner.

"When I met him I was also impressed with his hunger and desire to improve and play at the highest level. I like his ambition and his drive."

Commons becomes the first player to move from Forest to Derby since Gary Charles in 1993.
