Kinsella: We need a boost

Andrew Hodgson13 April 2012

Mark Kinsella admits he would swap victory over Sheffield United in the FA Cup tomorrow to finally end Charlton's dreadful League form on Tuesday night.

The coach saw the club extend their winless run in the Championship to 18 games last weekend with defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

And with bitter rivals Crystal Palace up next in the League, Kinsella would like a win in the cup to boost their confidence.

Kinsella said: "It's a free game. With the situation we are in, we would be more than happy to lose tomorrow and get the three points on Tuesday night.

"But the FA Cup is the oldest cup competition and we would love to be in the fifth round. We're looking at it as a game we want to win to get the confidence flowing."

Boss Phil Parkinson will be without loan signings Tom Soares, Matthew Spring and Graeme Murty for the trip to Bramall Lane. That could open the door again for the youngsters who helped Charlton beat Norwich in the last round.
