Kris hits double ton

13 April 2012

Saracens stalwart Kris Chesney will become only the second player in Guinness Premiership history to register 200 appearances when he comes off the replacements bench at home to Northampton at Vicarage Road tomorrow.

Only London Wasps lock Simon Shaw, with 204, has played more matches in the Premiership and it is a tribute to Chesney's ability to take the heavy knocks and survive the constant changes of personnel that he is still a part of the Sarries squad.

The 34-year-old is in his 14th season with the club and said: "It's a huge honour and to be up there with a guy like Simon Shaw is very special. Shawsy is a legend.

"I have not been as fortunate, compared to others, in terms of international recognition so these milestones do mean a lot to me and it is something to cherish.

"It will be great to reach that mark in front of the Saracens fans as they have been great to me over the years."
