Leeds favourites for last eight

13 April 2012

Leeds gave themselves a great chance of making the UEFA Cup quarter-finals after holding Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven to a goalless draw in the first leg at the Philips Stadium last night.

David O'Leary's men have struggled with consistency and have still to record a win since New Year's Day, but they still start as favourites for next Thursday's second leg at Elland Road.

This fourth-round result was even more impressive when you consider PSV have lost just once in the last 36 home games.

Nigel Martyn pulled off two stunning saves in the opening four minutes, while at the other end striker Mark Viduka was denied by two goal-line clearances.

O'Leary said: "Coming to a good club like this, playing a good side and doing well won't have done us any harm."
