Lydiate anticipates Wales inquest

Dan Lydiate believes "fingers will be pointed" this week as Wales seek a rapid response to their RBS 6 Nations defeat against England.

Wales have little time to regroup ahead of next Saturday's Murrayfield appointment with Scotland. And they also have a fresh injury concern, as wing Morgan Stoddart looks set to be ruled out of the Edinburgh trip after breaking a bone in his hand during Wales' 26-19 loss on Friday night.

Flanker Lydiate said: "Nobody is hurting more than the players, and we are all disappointed for the fans. We will take a good long hard look at what happened. Fingers will be pointed this week, and we will sort it out for next weekend."

He added: "There were times we were sloppy against England, and we need to cut out those mistakes. If we do that, we will really be firing.

"We were a bit rusty, and you cannot be that way at this level.

The Wales squad will reassemble at their base in the Vale of Glamorgan on Monday, with coach Warren Gatland awaiting medical updates on Stoddart and number eight Andy Powell.

Stoddart, Wales' try-scorer against England, joins an injury list that includes his fellow wings Leigh Halfpenny and George North, props Gethin Jenkins and Adam Jones, plus centres Tom Shanklin and Andrew Bishop.

Stoddart is to be reviewed by a specialist, but it is likely that Gatland will need to summon a reinforcement from outside his Six Nations squad, possibly one of Tom James, Aled Brew or Will Harries.
