Magnificent Kosei Miura gets taste of Britain

Simon Milham13 April 2012

Teenage riding sensation Kosei Miura has his first taste of a British all-weather track tonight when he partners Jibouti in the digibet Maiden Stakes at Kempton for trainer Clive Brittain.

The 19-year-old impressed many here last autumn on a brief riding stint and Brittain knows exactly why Miura enjoys cult status back in Japan.

The Newmarket trainer said: "He is a sensational rider. He rode for Sir Mark Prescott and worked for me last year and I was very impressed with his style.

"He also rides a couple for me at Goodwood tomorrow."

Miura, who eventually hopes to ride in the Epsom Derby, recently met his idol Frankie Dettori.

He said: "His style is like no other rider and that's who I want to be like."
