Mourinho cuts short his holiday in desperate pursuit of Lampard

13 April 2012

Jose Mourinho is desperate to make Frank Lampard his first signing as manager at Inter Milan and has cut short his family holiday to oversee the deal for the Chelsea midfielder.

Mourinho was not due to return to the club for another five days but the former Chelsea boss was back in Milan last night and is determined to land the England star, according to The Sun.

The Italians giants are understood to have had an £6.6million offer rejected by the Blues last week.

Reunited? Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and Frank Lampard celebrate the Blues' first Barclays Premier League title in 2005.

Chelsea are thought to have told Inter that no deal can be hammered out for Lampard until new manager Luiz Felipe Scolari takes over his official duties on July 1.

Lampard, 30, also returns from holiday tomorrow and will begin discussions on his future this week.
