Odemwingie snatches points

Two-goal Peter Odemwingie ended West Brom's five-game losing streak with a late winner in a 3-2 victory against Blackpool at The Hawthorns.

David Vaughan put Blackpool in front but Albion replied through Odemwingie and James Morrison only for Gary Taylor-Fletcher to level for the Seasiders.

But then Odemwingie struck with three minutes remaining to move Albion away from the relegation zone.

DJ Campbell missed a golden chance to put the visitors ahead after only two minutes, screwing a shot wide after being set up by Luke Varney.

Blackpool went ahead after 11 minutes through a superb goal from David Vaughan, who curled a shot past the dive of Boaz Myhill in the Albion goal.

Odemwingie equalised in the 37th minute, beating the offside trap, controlling the ball and slipping it past Blackpool goalkeeper Richard Kingson for his seventh goal of the campaign.

A second glaring miss of the game from Campbell prevented Blackpool from regaining the lead early in the second half, and it proved costly as James Morrison put Albion in front after 52 minutes. Richard Kingson got his hand to a low ball across the box from Jerome Thomas but Morrison was on hand to make no mistake at the far post.

Vaughan became the first player to be yellow carded for a challenge on Youssouf Mulumbu, then Odemwingie found himself one-on-one with Kingson, who spread himself and smothered the shot. Albion squandered another great chance when Odemwingie teed up Morrison - who shot over from 10 yards out.

With 10 minutes left, Gary Taylor-Fletcher levelled for Blackpool when he turned home a low cross from substitute Matt Phillips.

Back came Albion and Kingson blocked an effort from Simon Cox, before Odemwingie decided the contest in the 87th minute when he held off Ryan Cathcart and drilled his shot home.
