O'Sullivan rockets to a 147 cash bonanza

13 April 2012

Ronnie O'Sullivan is in line for a £169,000 jackpot after scoring a maximum 147 during his Embassy world snooker championship match against Marco Fu last night.

'Rocket' Ronnie compiled the sixth maximum break of his career in just six-and-a-half-minutes in frame seven of the first-round clash to become the first player to achieve two maximums in the final stages of the world championship.

Providing no player equals his 147 clearance in the tournament, the world No1 is entitled to £147,000, plus a £22,000 prize for the highest break.

O'Sullivan, from Chigwell, resumes today trailing Fu 6-3. In other matches played yesterday, John Higgins beat Ian McCulloch 10-7 and Alan McManus overcame Nigel Bond by the same score.
