After Paris, next stop Yorkshire for Tour chief Chris Froome

A week after Chris Froome’s British victory in the Tour de France, the head of the most famous bike race in the world was in Yorkshire today to assess preparations for the start of next year’s event in the England.

Tour director Christian Prudhomme was due to meet the chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, Gary Verity, to assess the state of preparations with less than 12 months to go.

The 2014 Grand Depart will take place in Leeds next July. The first stage will take the world’s elite riders through the Yorkshire Dales to Harrogate. Day two will start in York and take in some of the best cycling climbs in England before ending in Sheffield.

The race will then move south for a stage from Cambridge to London before heading back over the Channel.
