Invictus team to be part of British GT Championships

A group of wounded armed forces veterans will compete in this year’s British GT Championships.

The four-man Invictus Games Racing team announced - who will be driving a specially adapted Jaguar - is made up of Paul Vice, Basil Rawlinson, Ben Norfolk and Steve McCulley.

Vice, who won seven medals at the Invictus Games, was paralysed in his right arm after stepping on an improvised explosive device.

McCulley was nearly killed by an IED, while Norfolk and Rawlinson have suffered with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The group of drivers is a collaboration between the Invictus Games Foundation and Superdry clothing founder James Holder.

Holder, a keen racer who was inspired to set up the team by watching the Invictus Games, has commissioned two bespoke racing cars to compete in the 2018-19 series.

He said: “Our drivers will be an inspiration to those who have been wounded, injured or become sick as a direct result of their service.”
